TikTok LIVE Stream Key Not Working

Step 1 – Confirm stream key access is actually enabled

TikTok doesn’t give every creator stable RTMP access. Start with the basics:

• Make sure you’re generating the key from the correct LIVE tools section.
• Never reuse old keys — they expire and invalidate without warning.
• Double-check whether your region still supports stream-key access.

Many “broken” keys are actually expired or tied to an old event.

Step 2 – Fix the common OBS / encoder mistakes

Most connection failures come from mismatched settings, not bans. Verify:

• Server URL and Stream Key copied cleanly with no extra spaces.
• Bitrate within 2500–6000 kbps depending on your resolution.
• Keyframe interval set to 2 seconds.
• Resolution no higher than 1080p unless TikTok explicitly enables it.
• FPS set to 30 unless you know your pipeline supports 60.

One incorrect setting is enough to make TikTok instantly reject the connection.

Step 3 – Network and device issues

• Use a wired connection if possible — Wi-Fi drops kill RTMP sessions.
• Avoid VPNs; TikTok often blocks RTMP over certain exit nodes.
• Close other streaming services that may be fighting OBS for ports.

If the encoder can’t maintain a stable handshake, TikTok won’t allow the session to start.

Step 4 – Live Studio vs OBS: which one is failing?

If Live Studio works but OBS doesn’t, the issue is your encoder setup. If OBS works but Live Studio doesn’t, TikTok may be testing a limited rollout in your region.

Don’t assume one means a ban — different tools use different verification flows.
